MWC2018│火药味浓,高通暗讽华为5G芯片不是业内首款

英特尔宣布为两年后的东京奥运会部署5G技术,华为推出世界首款3GPP 5G商用芯片,高通展示在旧金山和法兰克福的5G模拟测试结果……作为全球通信届规模最大的展会,MWC2018毫无意外地被5G刷屏了。
2018年被称之为5G元年。以往的MWC展会最抢风头的往往是厂商推出的新品智能手机。但今年不一样,产品方面仅三星S9系列最吸引眼球。中国手机排名分列前二前三的OPPO、vivo甚至没来参展,首次参展的小米,最大的动作也就是在巴塞罗那开了第一家小米之家,并无新品发布。
可以说,缺乏创新终端产品的这届MWC展会,5G展现出了排山倒海之势,碾压其他技术。标准组织、政府、运营商、设备商在内的产业链各方,都摩拳擦掌严阵以待,试图在2019年5G商用前快人一步。
作为全球领先的ICT服务商,华为在展会首日发布了MateBook X Pro系列新品笔记本电脑以及M5系列新品平板电脑,同时还宣布2018年推出端到端5G商用产品,2019年推出麒麟芯片和智能手机。
另一家全球领先综合通信解决方案商——中兴通讯也在本届展会上,以“5G商用”“5G连接”“云化使能5G”等主题,全面展示了中兴在5G领域的领先实力。中兴通讯每年投入30亿元在5G领域,联合高通、中国移动共同完成了全球首个基于3GPP R15标准的端到端系统测试。
华为Balong 5G01
英特尔也在MWC开展之前就展示了5G全新商业应用:全球最大规模的5G技术在2018年平昌冬奥会上成功演示。英特尔还宣布将为2020年东京奥运会部署5G技术,并与日本通信服务提供商NTT DOCOMO展开合作,为即将到来的2020年奥运会的网络基础设施、连接和全新体验合作提供5G技术支持。
另一家芯片商高通也不甘示弱,“最近业界对5G的关注度可谓是越来越高,我们也关注到有一些友商希望能够‘重新书写历史’。”高通市场营销高级总监Peter Carson在一场5G话题的媒体沟通会的开场直接针对友商,现场仿佛弥漫着一股浓浓地火药味。
这里的“友商”指的就是华为。在这场沟通会的前一天下午,华为在当地开了一场新品发布会,会上的“One More Thing”是一款5G芯片——Balong 5G01。华为在官方新闻稿中称,这是“第一款商用的,基于3GPP标准的5G芯片”。
Peter Carson称,高通在去年的MWC上就已经发布了全球首款5G调制解调器——骁龙X50 5G调制解调器;去年10月份在香港宣布了基于骁龙X50 5G调制解调器芯片组,实现了全球首个5G数据连接(data call);去年11月,高通联合中兴通讯和中国移动,完成了全球首个基于3GPP标准的端到端5G新空口系统互通(IoDT)。
“一些厂商会说他们取得了很多的‘业界首次’或‘第一’,但其实相信大家听了刚才我重新给大家分享的这些宣布的时间点,就会非常清楚地了解,高通在5G领域已经取得了非常坚实的进展。”Peter Carson。
似乎还有些意犹未尽,Peter Carson接着又补充到:“我们也看到了友商推出了他们的5G芯片组,体积还是比较大的,并不适合于移动终端的需求。我们的目标一直是5G芯片组一定要满足移动终端对尺寸、性能和连接速率的需求。”据他介绍,高通X50芯片的体积和50分欧元硬币差不多大。
类似的调侃,高通技术执行副总裁兼QCT总裁克里斯蒂安诺·阿蒙也提到过。在当地时间2月27日中午一场针对海内外媒体的发布会上,他也不具名地说友商的5G芯片太大了,不适合做到手机终端里。
事实上,在本届MWC之前,高通已经宣布与全球20家OEM厂商达成合作,这些厂商将使用高通骁龙X50 5G新空口调制解调器系列,以此来打造最早一批的5G智能终端,预期在2019年进行发布。
另一个宣布就是全球18家主流移动运营商,其中也包括全球最大的中国移动这样的运营商,他们表示将采用高通解决方案,在5G上展开试验和测试,并共同实现在2019年支持5G商用终端的目标。
高通在MWC展台上演示的5G新空口模拟实验
随着5G的渐行渐近,很多原本在实验室中进行的测试也逐步走向现实场景中。高通在本届MWC期间最大的亮点在于展示了5G真实网络模拟实验的多项成果。
高通选取了两个城市进行大规模的网络模拟实验,以反映5G的用户体验增益。一个是位于德国的法兰克福开展在3.5GHz这一6GHz以下频段的5G模拟,另外一个则是美国加州的旧金山开展在28GHz毫米波频段的5G网络模拟实验。
Peter Carson表示:“最终成果表明,两项5G模拟实验均实现了5倍的网络容量增益。除了网络容量外,两项实验还分别实现了7倍和23倍的响应速度提升,大幅改善应用体验。”其中,旧金山的5G模拟实验结果显示,5G用户的浏览下载速度均值达到了1.4Gbps,是同等环境下4G网络的20倍。
有业内人士表示,5G商用来临之前,最体现实力的有真实数据的测试。按照我国工信部的规划,将在今年6月份会完成5G第三阶段的系统测试。本阶段的测试过后,也就意味着2018年底5G产业链主要环节将基本达到预商用水平。
在这段关键性的窗口期,人人都在进行最后的百米冲刺。尤其是在4G时代落后的运营商、设备厂商等,都暗自憋着一股气,将翻身的希望寄托于5G。对他们来说,5G is now, is future!
